Coming Soon Internet Explorer 9 – Web Designers News Update

August 25th, 2010

Introducing  internet Explorer 9

The beta releases of IE9, and with each one performance has got better and better. Whilst the final release details are still being closely guarded by Microsoft, we do know a few key points for certain:

CSS

IE9 will support nearly all CSS 3 selectors, and this means support for features such as rounded corners, gradients and more – a key update that web designers can get excited about!

HTML 5
Support for HTML 5 will allow embedding of video and audio, as well as features like geolocation and the canvas element.

Javascript
IE9 has a brand new Javascript engine - ‘Chakra’. The latest release has been tested in Acid 3 (which measures web browser performance with web standards compatibility) and scored 95/100. To put this in comparison the current release of Firefox scores 94/100!

Fonts
An exciting  and often overlooked development in IE9 has been the inclusion of WOFF (Web Open Font Format) support. This looks likely to be a standard for embedding fonts, and W3C are currently looking at making this the standard font embedding method.

Loading speed of website now important

July 18th, 2010

Speed of website

Have you ever tried to access any website and experience that it takes ages to even download the basic information?

Im sure we all have on several occasions, pretty annoying right? :-(

What does Google NOW say about this?

Google has now had enough of this slow loading websites and as result they are going to affect you BIG time in ranking.

The scenario is this:

take two similar sites which both share beneficial information, one of the websites was design very well with HTML, CSS, no videos, no flash, hardly any images this site loads within a few secs.

The second website looks really fancy, has all the flash, the images, videos, including all the contents and was built on tables and now takes so long to load the basic data.

The site that Google will now rank higher will be the first website as it loads quickly regardless if it has all the right contents and the backlinks. it just makes sense.

Therefore minimise the use of lots of graphics or videos.

if you have this then get a redesign as this will affect your web ranking. This should be part of good practice, regardless if Google put it in within their algorithm.

New SEO Tips for 2010

July 18th, 2010

We all have our favorite search engines we all use. My first choice is Google, followed by yahoo, the other search engines then follow e.g  Ask.com, Bing which was formerly MSN Windows Live. Some web users tend to use all types of search engines depending on the type of contents they are searching for.

Well for all those who don’t already know there are some new changes coming soon in 2010 when you use Google.

Google recently announced that its search engines will be using what is called ‘real time search’ to index the relevant web pages.

Why the change, I hear you scream out?

Although Real time search concept has been around for a while now.

The changes come into effect as social media sites like twitter and facebook are trying to improve their alogorithm.

What does this mean now?

Real time search includes status updates from twitter and facebook, including any recent tweets. Although not all search query that is carried out by web users will this real time search reasults.

The only time this would occur is when articles are published that are popular or hot topics and trends.

What do i need to do?

To make sure that you are benefiting from all this now is to sign up to a twiter and a facebook account, that’s if you are not already using one. Your competitors are already ahead as they are using this trend.

The Importance of Quality Web Contents

July 15th, 2010

Everyone should or should be adding fresh contents on a regular basis to help boost SEO.

A good quality content, that is unique and relevant is normally very interesting to read. This will also help drive vast traffic to your website within a short time, also Google will acknowledge your site to be reputable with them and customers.

A few site owners tend to hire cheap contents writing companies to help then build contents articles in blogs or website, but they make crucially errors by stuffing the websites with keywords only.

By doing sites like this it reduces the chances of your site been found on Google. Remember Google is not stupid, this trick has been done before and they have better algorithm which they use to determine which sites are relevant to the search.

Some sites contents when done this way can do some damages, in some extreme cases are irreversible.

Quickly producing content can lead to major mistakes which damage a site’s reputation as CBS News recently discovered.

CBS News accidentally reported that Holland had won the World Cup final instead of the actual champions Spain, which lead to mass confusion and howls of derision from numerous bloggers.

SEO – Useful SEO tips to help rank well on search engines

June 16th, 2010

Hello Everyone

Thank you for joining us. I want to share some tips with you on how to rank well in all search engines just by following just a few simple tips.

ok, so you have a fantastic website but its not ranked well, and you are not seeing any return on your investment?

How do you get your site to start ranking well?

The only way is to increase your website site traffic. For those of you that think that by having a great website out there you’ll automatically rank well, — NOT so.

Search engines are very sophisticated this days and they know your site is fairly new and will generally not have any interest unless others do. When you get lots of views that’s where raising your traffic comes in.

The benefits are simple – the more people that visit your site the chances of it transferring into more sales and more sales means more business.

Tips on how to help rank well on Search Engines.

Step 1

We suggest advertising your site, clearly identifying the type of services you are doing on your website. Your marketing materials should always have your URL on them. Also include them on your advertisements, email signatures, business cards, letter heads etc…

Step 2

Links exchange is very important way to be found in google search engines, so get posting but be careful not to post too much as Google can sometimes penalize you. Always start with website that carter for similar services as yours.

step 3

Search engines are regularly scanning web pages on a daily basis for new and relative content.

When people search the Web for content that matches the copy on your site, your site will come up in natural results.
To increase your chances of getting noticed, make sure header tags and meta tags feature the search terms you want to be known for. Put some of these terms throughout your copy if you haven’t already. You can also switch links with other sites to gain more popularity.

step 4

Use pay-per-click. If you do this, which entails purchasing keywords, you will have to pay.

Step 5

Create a blog for your website, this will always gather fresh contents and increase traffic to your site.

Effective Web Design – Design for all Screen Resolutions

June 15th, 2010

Tip 5 – Design for all Screen Resolutions:

A site that is easy-to-use always encourages visitors to stay and read your content. For site with long pages of content this is very crucial as the amount of scrolling required is reduced. Suppose your site doesn’t look good for a particular resolution it is very probable that the visitor will close the browser window feeling that the web page is not for their viewing. Designing stretch layouts that fit any screen resolution ensures that you know all your visitors see a visually appealing and professional site.
